Approximately 2-3 mg of silicate rock material is needed for a triple oxygen isotope analysis. However, not all parts of meteorites yield valuable isotopic information and need to be avoided. For example, fusion crust has mixed with oxygen in Earth’s atmosphere upon entry. Please reach out on a case-by-case basis to determine the best way to measure your rock(s). This is typically in ~ 5-10 gram chunks that can be broken and/or cut out of your rock(s). I am able to cut large rock samples for a nominal service fee and all materials will be returned to you after analysis.

Please ship samples with the following address:

Billing: After analyses, you will receive an itemized invoice out of the Center for Stable Isotopes. Following complete payment of the invoice, you will receive a technical write-up including the oxygen isotope compositions of your material, EPMA data if requested, the method(s) and technique(s) utilized, in addition to an identification of your rock.
